Confession

Dive Deeper | Confession

Here at Immaculate Conception, we live in the awareness that the Church is not a hotel for saints, but rather a hospital for sinners. Regardless of what you’ve done (or failed to do) recently, God is waiting for you! Experience the healing power of confession. Face-to-face and anonymous confessions are available every Saturday at 3:30pm. It is also offered at St. Augustine on Saturday at 9am or Tuesdays at Sacred Heart at 5:15pm. If those times don’t work for you, you are welcome to contact the parish office and make an appointment.

“It’s been a while since my last confession. What if I don’t know where to go or what to do?”

Don’t stress – we’re here for you! Let the priest know if you haven’t been to Confession in a while, or don’t remember what to say, and he’ll help guide you through the process. Reviewing the standard format and an Examination of Conscience is also helpful.

“When we go to Confession, we are not telling God something He doesn’t already know, and we’re not showing Him something He doesn’t already see. We are giving Him something He doesn’t already have: Your broken heart.” Fr. Mike Schmitz

“Confession is an act of honesty and courage – an act of entrusting ourselves, beyond sin, to the mercy of a loving and forgiving God.”

— ST. JOHN PAUL II
