Building & Grounds Committee (SHJ)

This committee meets to advise parish employees and address the needs of the parish and cemetery grounds.  Please contact Joe at jlaska@southshorecatholic.org.

 

Elizabeth Ministry  (SHJ)

Modeled after the Virgin Mary’s time with her cousin Elizabeth during her pregnancy, the women of this ministry reach out to women, especially those in child bearing years. Assistance with meals and baby’s needs such as diapers, clothes, and  furniture (This is done in partnership with the St. Vincent de Paul Society). This group coordinates the Spring Baby Shower and the Advent Giving Tree.

 

Human Concerns Committee

The Human Concerns Committee coordinates a number of campaigns to help support other groups  and ministries doing great work to help those most in need.

 

Finance Council

The Finance Council advises the pastor and helps address concerns with parish financial health.

 

Liturgical Ministries

These all take place during Sunday Masses. Training is needed for each of the roles before beginning but you can serve at the Mass you normally attend. Please contact Paul at worship@southshorecatholic.org or Hannah at worshipassistant@southshorecatholic.org to get started!

Cantors

Cantors sing the Responsorial Psalm and Gospel  Acclamation for the whole parish.

Choir

The SHJ choir practices  on Wednesdays at  6:30pm.

Lectors

Lectors share the Word of God with the parish community. They may process in carrying the Lectionary with the day’s readings.  This is open to teens who have received their Confirmation and up!

Extraordinary Ministers

These liturgical ministers help distribute the Eucharist during Mass. This is open to teens who have received their Confirmation and up!

Servers

Servers aid the priest during Mass in a variety of ways. This is open to boys who have received their First Communion and up!

Ushers

This liturgical ministry helps welcome those coming to worship, answer parishioner/visitor questions, collect offerings, and direct the Communion lines during Mass.  This is open to teens who have received their Confirmation and up!

 

Ministry to the Homebound

Eucharist, prayer and fellowship are brought to the homebound, those in nursing homes and in assisted living facilities on the first Friday of each month.  Please contact Paul at worship@southshorecatholic.org with questions.

 

Tri-Parish Council

This council is made up of nominated members that represent the parishioners,  advise the pastor, and take on leading roles for different committees and projects that help parish growth.
